Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince's Character Snape

Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince's Character Snape

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, the sixth part of the Harry Potter series was released on July 16, 2005. Now its movie is to be released on 15 July 2009, which has grown great elation and anxiety among the Potter followers. This part focuses on the past life of Lord Voldemort and the other foes of Harry Potter.
As always, Alan Rickman plays the character of Snape in the movie. He is the potions master at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and head of Slytherin house, but he had been after the defense against the dark arts job for years. From the day Harry joined Hogwarts, Snape has held a ill feelings against him may be because of his father.
He and Harry's father James Potter were class fellows but never got along. Afterwards James married Lily Evan, whom Snape was in love with. This evoked the hatred of Snape towards James. Snape has always been looking for an opportunity to avenge Harry and put him in detentions. Furthermore, the maltreatment by Snape to which Harry was subjected was to save Harry all along, even in the previous parts.
In the sixth book, Snape has quite a significant role. At the start of the year, he was assigned as the Defense against the Dark Arts teacher and was superceded by Horace Slughorn, a retired teacher of Hogwarts, as the potions master. Snape is one of the main baddies and was given the duty of protecting Draco Malfoy, a student and supporter of Voldemort.
In Slughorn's class, Harry had no potions notebook. Consequently, he was given one by professor Slughorn. It was a book of an ex-student. It was cited in the book: "the property of Half Blood Prince". There were many spells and beneficial tips in that book, which improved Harry's performance in potions. In a fight with Draco, Harry used a lethal spell from the book, which injured Draco extremely. Snape came to the scene and cured Draco's wounds. He then put Harry in detention just before his Quidditch match of the year, because of his insensible act and his reluctance to tell about the source of the spell.
Snape also assassinated Hogwarts headmaster, Albus Dumbledore. When Harry and the headmaster were at the school's Astronomy tower, Draco abruptly arrives and plans to kill Dumbledore, as ordered by Voldemort, but couldn't commit the murder himself. Then Snape arrives, along with other Death Eaters, and kills him. This was very upsetting for Harry as he was extremely connected to Dumbledore.
Angry at this act, Harry chases Snape and Draco to kill them, but Snape easily blocks his attacks. At this instant, Snape unveils himself as the Half Blood Prince. He reveals that he was the son of a muggle father Tobias and a pure-blood mother Eileen Prince.
Alan Rickman has already influenced several people by his detailed and perfect acting of the character Snape. Even in the previous parts he has defined the accurate character. So, it is evident that even in this movie he is back with the same ability.

This helps the new employee to become familiar with the company's culture, values, standards and various practices being followed in the company. According to a survey a new recruit is not able to meet the company's expectations for first few months. This is because a new employee does not know anything about the company's work procedure. It takes some time for him/her to understand the procedure and work according to that and moreover a new employee is not familiar with the employees and it could be possible that he/she feels hesitation while talking to them about work related problems. To remove this hesitation induction is a very important process.

Men and women both are the victims of workplace violence. A very bad impact is imposed by this on employee's mental and physical health. His /her daily life or relationships may also suffer because of this and even a mentally disturbed person cannot provide quality work to the organization. To stop all this the employee in organizations must be taught the proper manner in which they should behave with their colleagues. In such courses, it is also taught to develop a friendly environment in the organization to make it a better place to work.

Workplace Health and Safety Courses: Workplace health is a very vast term which gives rise to an environment where safety, health and well being of employees are considered as prime factors. If the employees of an organization will be healthy then it will be beneficial for both the employees and the organization because of many reasons. Re "Putting online classes to test," July 6 While online classes, remedial and otherwise, have tremendous potential, the fact that about 80% of students enter California's community colleges deficient in English and math should set off alarms. Graduation rates are indeed the prime measure of progress, but a high school education that doesn't educate just gives you a certificate that is not only worthless in the marketplace but devalues graduates who have earned their diplomas.

His positive view about online education was strongly supported in a new USC Dornsife/Los Angeles Times poll. Among the registered voters who participated in the survey, 59% said they agreed with the idea that increasing the number of online classes at California's public universities will make education more affordable and accessible. However, 34% expressed fears that expanding online classes will reduce access to professors, diminish the value of college degrees and not save money.
For Ancheta, 21, an accounts manager at a telephone company who participated in the poll, the scheduling freedom of online classes "is a very pleasant alternative." Moreover, he said, "You can pull away the exact same amount of knowledge you can pull away from a traditional classroom."
The support for online education comes as government and university leaders nationwide are debating whether to expand those computerized classes that usually include videotaped lectures and digital chat rooms.
Gov. Jerry Brown has proposed giving the University of California and California State University systems each $10 million more next year to add online offerings, despite some faculty skepticism. Several California public universities have joined with such commercial providers as Coursera and Udacity for online courses that enroll thousands of students at a time.
Increasing online courses, as long as those classes are not mandatory, was favored across age ranges in the poll. Countering stereotypes that older people might fear technology, 60% of survey respondents over the age of 50 liked the idea while 58% of those between 18 and 49 said they did.
Such a broad response probably is due to rising familiarity with all sorts of technology, suggested Drew Lieberman, a vice president of Greenberg Quinlan Rosner Research, a Democratic firm that conducted the poll with American Viewpoint, a Republican company.
"I think … this is becoming pretty standard operating procedure in both how we live and how education is accessed," he said. "The online world is less of a threat and becoming more of an accepted resource for all generations."
However, some poll respondents expressed concern that online classes will be marred by cheating. Opponents, such as Adriana Martinez of Anaheim, also think that online learning is inferior to face-to-face feedback from a professor and classmates.
"It's the lack of interaction more than anything," said Martinez, 23, who earned a Cal State Fullerton accounting degree two years ago and recently took online classes for a real estate broker's license.
The poll found substantial opposition to another possible campus change: increasing the share of students from other states and nations. Even though non-Californians pay much higher tuition, 57% of the poll respondents said that adding out-of-state students will squeeze out Californians and make UC and Cal State less affordable. Just 33% agreed with the position that more non-Californians will help support state universities without raising taxes.

 Education For The Poor

Education For The Poor, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, was established by a group of professionals who aspired to provide a long term cure to the poverty situation in Vietnam by giving educational assistance to the poor. To maximize the impact of our assistance, we concentrate our efforts on only a few areas that immediately and directly benefit students, namely providing scholarships and improving the English skills and education of the underprivileged.

In light of the recent influx of foreign investments into Vietnam and the increasing globalization of the world’s economic order, English has become crucial to forging a better future. In regard to improving the English skills and education of underprivileged students, Education For The Poor has started to send volunteers to teach English in Vietnam during the summer since 2006. The program benefits many students, especially during the last few years when approximately 1500 students were able to participate in the program every summer. In addition to English, we also hosted a short session in Accounting to further improve our students’ chance to find a job with foreign companies. Finally, to help students expand their knowledge base, gain up-to-date knowledge of technological advancements, and continue improving their English skills year-round, we have also initiated the creation of Educational Learning Centers.

In regard to scholarships, Education For The Poor holds the belief that we need to "cultivate a tree until it yields fruits", and as such we continue to give scholarships to recipients until they graduate.

Education For The Poor would like to give underprivileged students equal footing in the search of a better future. But to fulfill our mission, we need your support. Your contributions not only benefit underprivileged students, but also the many generations to come - their children and their children’s children because these students’ success will end the intergenerational transmission of poverty that they have previously endured. Please donate now. All contributions are tax deductible

More Indian students opting for open online courses

BANGALORE: A large number of Indian students are accessing Ivy League content through Massive Online Open Course (MOOC) that provides free access to best-in-class education taught by faculty at top universities. MOOC, delivered via internet, has lowered the entry barriers encouraging students to access quality education from top universities like Stanford, Harvard, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) for free.

Microsoft Research India has rolled out a pilot project with Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) for a MOOC-like experiment blending online education with classroom learning. As part of its Massively Empowered Classroom project, Microsoft Research is offering free online certification on algorithm, design and analysis (ADA) for engineering students.
Two thousand students across 27 engineering colleges have enrolled for the semester-long programme so far. "The recent excitement for MOOC is subtle and obvious. Technology has made students the centre of learning as opposed to constrained by a classroom," said P Anandan, MD of Microsoft Research India. The course offers video lectures, online quizzes and tests at the end of each topic. Top ten students will get an opportunity to intern at Microsoft Research besides getting a certification from them.
A clutch of startups like Coursera, Udacity and Khan Academy provide new ways to connect, collaborate and share information leading to new-age pedagogy. US-based Coursera founded by computer science professors -- Andrew Ng and Daphne Koller from Stanford University -- offers over 300 courses from 20 categories including engineering, humanities, medicine and mathematics created by 62 varsities from 16 countries.
"MOOCs can be a great way to supplement formal higher education as well as to gain cross-functional knowledge. It opens up access to quality content thereby democratising higher education. over 3 lakh Indian students have enrolled to MOOCs in the last few months," said Antony Alex, CEO of Rainmaker, test management company focused on the legal ecosystem.
With an estimated 150 million people in the age group of 18-23 years, the educational sector offers one of the most attractive, yet highly complex market for the private and foreign players, said a recent Deloitte report. Currently, the government spends around 3.8% of its GDP on education. Less than 1% of the $38 billion of the government spend on education was towards capital expenditure in 2008-09, it said.
However, many educationists feel MOOC will transform the way higher education is delivered in the country. "We expect to see more partnerships between MOOC providers and Indian universities wherein MOOC courses are integrated with existing Indian courses in a "flipped classroom" framework, for both on-campus as well as distance learning programmes," said Raj Chakrabarti, professor of systems engineering in Carnegie Mellon University. He and his colleague Anisha Ghosh have started The Academic Financi
al Trading Platform (AFTP), the MOOC platform dedicated exclusively to business education.
